A blurb about making a way for God
On any given Sunday, my church home's attendance by passes 1,000. Although I've been attending for over a year, I continue to meet new people quite often. As we get to know one another, one of the most common questions that people have for me "You drive all the way here for church?"
The reason people are shocked is because my church home is in another city from the city that I live in. I actually pass at least 10 churches on my way and that does not include the churches that are tucked away on the secondary roads. Not only is the trip more consuming of time, but it also puts a nice dent in my gasoline budget.
My answer to the question is always simply "It's worth it." My reality is that I have made a connection with God now that has grounded me. I've never received such direction and assistance from above than what I receive now. I've been baptized. I recently ran into one of the 20 plus people that I was baptized with for the first time in almost a year. She said, "Hey you're Lena. We were baptized together!." I said, "Yes :) I'll always remember you due to that as well. :D" I've formed meaningful relationships with some of the most honest, loving and god fearing people. Some are my age, some are as old as 70ish.
There are a lot of things I could be doing with the money that I spend on gas especially when there are 2 churches within walking distance of me. But, what would I say if Jesus asked "What happened? Why did you walk away from me?"
What answer would you have if you were asked about sacrifices you didn't make?
